Social Media Contract FAQ
What should a social media contract include?
A social media contract should include: platforms covered, number and type of posts per month, content creation and approval process, posting schedule, community management expectations, content ownership, performance reporting, payment terms, and termination clause.
Who needs a social media contract?
Social media managers, content creators, influencers, and any freelancer or agency providing social media services. A contract protects both parties by clearly defining deliverables, usage rights, payment expectations, and what happens if either party wants to end the relationship.
Who owns the content created by a social media manager?
Ownership should be explicitly stated in the contract. Typically the client owns content created on their behalf after full payment. Without a contract, the creator generally owns the copyright under US law.
Is this social media contract template free?
Yes, completely free — no account, no watermark, no time limit. Edit and download as many social media contracts as you need.
How much should I charge for social media management?
Rates range from $500–$5,000+/month depending on platforms, post frequency, content creation requirements, and your experience. Freelancers often charge $300–$1,500/month per platform for management only.
